About Us

Black Heritage Southampton is a charity established in 1988 to promote the welfare and social wellbeing of the members of the African Caribbean Community in Southampton. We are an inclusive organisation that welcomes new members from the wider community, regardless of colour, creed, race or religion. We are a warm and welcoming group that provides regular opportunities for members to come together and participate in activities and social events including dominoes, arts & crafts, singing, storytelling and drama. Black Heritage is run by the members for the members.

“There is real value in the community coming together to share ideas and experiences. This is something I feel passionately about, especially among our older community members”

Beverley Dowdell, Chairman of Black Heritage
