Funding from the government’s Windrush Day Grant 2019 enabled Black Heritage to work in partnership with SoCo Music Project to record ‘Good Vibes! From The Caribbean’ at Hightown Studios.
This project has enabled us at the Black Heritage Association Southampton to resurrect folk songs from our childhood and communities in the Caribbean. Each song tells a story: some are sad, some are witty, but all are a reflection of our way of life in the Caribbean. They act as a means of expression and reinforce memories of our childhood. When we sing we share our memories.
